Leadership is about loving and serving others and being true to your purpose. It’s about creating an impact (real change and momentum) within your circle of influence regardless of its size. Greatness is not a matter of size and scale, but of quality, how you do with whatever you are given.
How many within your circle of influence do you actually influence to take action? How many look to you for leadership? If you don’t influence people to do good, you aren’t a leader.
“Jesus knew who he was and why [his purpose] he was here on this [earth]. That meant that he could lead from strength rather than from uncertainty or weakness.” Spencer W. Kimball, Jesus: The Perfect Leader
There is a popular song for primary-aged children with these lyrics: “Do as I’m doing, follow, follow me…” I love this song because it teaches the principle of leading by action, doing what I do and not just what I say.
Effective leaders must be purpose-driven, action or results focused, and influencers of good to those around them.
